Book Club Brunch – Chapter 18

Book Club Brunch – Chapter 18

OMG y’all,

The Shining is scary as hell. I’m not even a third of the way in, and it makes my skin crawl constantly. I think I’m just in anticipation of how scary it’s going to be, and it’s terrifying me.

Definitely a read-only-during-daylight-hours kind of book.

Have you started The Shining yet? Or did you pick up another scary book from our list of classic scary reads?

Peace,

Whitney

Areed. I have discovered that I can only read it during the weekend because I get home too close to night time and it scares me too much. I know I’m a wuss but I’ve never been a fan of horror or being scared. Even the opening chapter of The Woman in Cabin 10 was scary enough for this single woman.

It’s just so darn creepy! I never read truly scary books, so it’s really outside my comfort zone.

I keep bargaining with myself – “read 50 pages, then you can stop” – it’s not a great system, but I’m getting through it!

When I first read it in middle school, my friend told me to put it in the freezer at night and then I wouldn’t have nightmares. It seemed to work!

The Shining is super scary. I have it on my list to read after I finish the audiobook for It, also super scary. It’s 44 hours long as well, so I’m not sure when/if I’ll ever finish.
