Book Club Brunch – Chapter 34

Book Club Brunch – Chapter 34

Hi there,

Last week I mentioned that team Imaginary Book Club was hitting up the annual AWP Conference in Washington, DC, and boy did we! It was such an interesting and fun conference, we’re officially committing to head out to Tampa next year for AWP.

We’re also kicking off a new effort at IBC – team #NoBanNoWall. Through this effort, we’re going to kick up the number of reviews of books about or written by authors from the countries affected by recent regulations. We’ll also be featuring books about immigration stories. If you’re interested in joining in as a reviewer, shoot me an email at whitney@imaginarybookclub.com! It’ll take some time to get going, but I hope you enjoy the series!

This week I’ll be power reading Kindred! I know a lot of y’all have finished, so feel free to discuss in the comments (no spoilers!), but I made myself a rule of not reading it before bed, and I’m lagging behind!

XOXO,

Whitney

Hello fellow book lovers, It's still smoky over here in the Pacific Northwest! I got to attend Rose City Comic Con last weekend, which was a total blast, and my friends cosplayed as Thor, the family from Bob's Burgers, and Howl and Sophie! So great! There are too many...

Book Review | Rascal Farms, by Anderson Atlas

Anyone else love to eat? Yes?? I will admit I spend a lot of time thinking about food and what I want to eat or make. This meant I totally understood Mr. Raccoon wanting to mix up his diet with some better quality food in Anderson Atlas’s book Rascal...

I have Kindred from the library, but I’m determined to finish Hidden Figures first. It’s a good book, but there’s a lot of math in there. I’m also reading a bunch of new cookbooks that I got from the library. Glad it’s a three day weekend so I can catch up on reading!

I’ve been trying to expand my literary horizons too – there are so many cultures I know so little about, and which I would love to explore and experience through literature and #ownvoices!
