Book Club Brunch – Chapter 38
I don’t know about the rest of you, but here in Portland the weather has been gray. And rainy. And gray.
Luckily my parents visited last weekend and were treated to one day of sun, which fittingly happened on Sunday! We made sure to visit one of Powell’s locations, and while I magically didn’t buy anything, my parents definitely went home with an armload of books!
I’m not as far into Middlesex as I thought I would be, but I’m intrigued to read more. I really love Eugenides’ The Virgin Suicides and was surprised that Middlesex was published almost a decade later.
Let’s hope I enjoy it just as much!

As someone who really truly did make a raft out of tiny sticks, put her dead goldfish on top, lit it on fire, and set it afloat on the Columbia River, I really appreciate these kids in Scotland who also gave a Viking funeral to some well-deserving goldfish.
