Book Club Brunch – Chapter 47

Book Club Brunch – Chapter 47

Hello!

First off, love is love is love. Happy Pride month!!

Father’s Day is on Sunday. It’s a great time to tell the father-figures in your life that you appreciate them! I’m lucky to have a dad who has always believed I was destined for great things, and who backs up my decisions, even the super hard ones. Love you dad! (Did I mention that his favorite IBC post by yours-truly was my withering review of Wuthering Heights?? The man has good taste!)

Now, as you may recall, I love Archie comics! New, old, remakesspin-offs…I can’t get enough! Enter Riverdale, a new CW show (all of Season 1 is on Netflix, yay!). I. Am. Obsessed. I freaking love it. I’m all in for Jughead Jones as a Holden Caulfield-type character, and Cheryl Blossom is chaos incarnate. Yes, episode one deals with the classic Betty-Archie-Veronica love triangle, but after that they move onto other stuff and the show just keeps getting better! I was really happy that Josie and the Pussycats are a big part of the show, and them checking Archie’s privilege was amazing and refreshing! “Do you know why we call ourselves the Pussycats? Because we have to claw our way into rooms you can waltz into.” It’s fair to say the show is over the top, and the characters are not like you may remember them, but this Twin Peaks/Pretty Little Liars vibe that Riverdale has got going on is totally working for me. Are you addicted to? Let me know!

Life has been crazy, so I haven’t started Rubyfruit Jungle yet, but I am beyond stoked for this month’s pick! Have you started? Are you loving it? Let me know!

Peace out,

Austyn
