Favorites | February 2017

Normally, February is the one month out of the year where I am genuinely discombobulated.

On one hand, it’s usually the coldest and snowiest month of the year which means that I go full hermit mode. On the other, it’s my anniversary and usually the month where I spend a lot of time curled up with my favorite reads.

But I said normally for a reason.

Some of y’all may have guessed from the photo above, but this February I got to go to Harry Potter World in Orlando! Tacked on to a fantastic trip to see a few of my favorite people , I spent a day exploring Hogsmeade at Universal Islands of Adventure. We watched some kids do the wand magic throughout the park, and drank butterbeer!

I haven’t been on a serious roller-coaster in over a decade, and, boy, did I make up for that lost time. Still not sure about that as a serious hobby.

Happy to be taking that amazing experience and the renewed energy it brought me into March!

Here’s a quick wrap up of some of my favorite posts from the last month for a re-read:

Also – did you miss that we’re doing a GIVEAWAY?

And now, time for some non-book goodies I’ve been loving this month!

1. Ocean Potion protect & Nourish Sunscreen

Weird random discovery from my week in Orlando! I was playing grab bag with sunscreen options that my lovely friends have hanging around at the beach, and this caught my eye. I’ve never felt a sunscreen that felt less like sunscreen. This almost feels like a dry oil/lotion combination. Yet, with the higher SPF versions, no sunburn whatsoever. Magical. Will probably never purchase another brand again.

2. Oxo good grips bottle brush

Oh, look! A boring thing!

But oh-so-necessary.

I’m a water bottle fiend, but because I use them non-stop, that gross water bottle funk seems inescapable. Enter simple basic bottle brush, which has made my life easier without even trying. Should have gotten one of these ages ago y’all.

3. Capri Blue Volcano Candle

Every few months I go on a candle buying spree that lasts me well into the next season. In the fall, I go for cozy warm scents, but now that I really want to pull spring into reality as soon as possible I’ve ditched the pine for this Capri Blue volcano candle.

Known broadly as “Anthropologie scented,” picking up one of these every year just gives me that sharp tropical citrus scent that the store is so known for. It’s just the right scent to bridge that winter-spring-summer transition without ever being something that I could get tried of!

4. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone: An Illustrated Edition

The first time I heard about these beautiful illustrated editions of J.K. Rowling’s opus was when Caitlin posted last year about reading Harry Potter aloud to her infant son. I thought the idea was brilliant, and sort of filed it away for future reference.

And then I needed that reference! A potter-loving friend is having her first kiddo in the next few weeks, so I knew this would make the perfect gift. It’s much too advanced for an infant, of course, but I love Caitlin’s idea of sharing the story as early as possible.

What a month!

Here’s hoping that March is just as interesting! What have you been loving this month? Share it in the comments below, and maybe you’ll see it pop up in next month’s favorites!
