We have to break in to our regular schedule to be super excited about being nominated for the Liebster Award by A Writer Named Charley! The Liebster Award is a blogger award, designed to help connect and support the blogging community.
A great idea in promoting your own blog and others. Originally it was given out to blogs with less than 2000 readers but this has slowly lowered as the award has gained popularity. It is now only 200 readers or less.
These are the Liebster award rules:
- Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you.
- Display the award on your blog.
- Write a 150-300 word post about your favorite blog.
- Nominate 5-11 bloggers that you think are deserving of the award.
- Let the bloggers know you nominated them.
- List these rules in your post.
An Ode to a favorite blog
When asked to write about a favorite blog, I admit I was torn. I’m the kind of person who reads hundreds of blog posts a week, subscribing to countless favorites ranging from decade long commitments (XKCD, Jezebel) to brand new discoveries (Femtrepreneur, A Touch of Teal).
But when I had to write about a favorite blog here, I had no choice. I had to tell y’all about River City Reading. I’ve been reading Shannon’s content for a little over six months now, and I have to say, she’s one of the most polished and put together book bloggers I have yet to encounter. I imagine it helps that she’s been doing this for year, and she reads a lot of the books that I cannot wait to read. Maybe if we go comment on her blog enough, we can coax out a River City Reading guest post on IBC? I’ll leave that up to y’all.
We get to respond to 11 questions from Charley!
What is the meaning behind your blog’s title?
Imaginary Book Club was something that came to me really quickly one day while I was walking. I wanted to create an online book club, but I couldn’t come up with the right name to share how I would connect with people. The idea of an imaginary friend hit me, and it stuck!
What’s your favorite poem/quote? What significance does it have to your life?
I particularly love this quote, which were the last words of Keats: “My chest of books, divide amongst my friends.”
How do you prefer to channel your creativity? (i.e. writing, music, reading, etc.)
I’m more of a writer and reader than anything else.
Which blogger (s) have you wanted to work with but haven’t contacted yet?
There are just so many! See nominees?
What is a book/tv show/musical group that everyone else hates but you love?
I don’t think EVERYONE hates The Barenaked Ladies, but man, I love them a lot more than most!
What is your favorite type of food, and then your favorite memory associated with the food?
My favorite type of food is definitely pie, and I think my favorite memory is having peach pie for my birthday all through high school!
Which book to movie adaptation are you most excited for this year? Has it already come out?
Sadly, I know nothing about movies coming out.
How do you plan to tackle your tbr list for this year? Are you ahead or behind of your plan?
Lol, I don’t. I just pick up whatever sounds good as a next read and go from there. I assume that when I die there will be lots of books that I wanted to read and never got to. That’s just how it goes.
What is one way you hope to expand your blog in the future? (more social media accounts, memes, weekly challenges, etc.)
I’m currently bringing on several more new writers, which should help diversify our perspectives and voices, which makes me incredibly excited.
Why did you decide to start a blog when you did?
In a hate spiral with my current job, I needed an outlet that actually made me smile.
What was your last five-star read, and what was it about?
My last five-star read is almost always the last book I put down. I just finished Terry’ McMillan’s I Almost Forgot About You, and was surprised by how much I loved it!
