June 2016 | Imaginary Book Club

This month has been so much fun! For once, I feel like the month hasn’t flown by, but just lasted the perfect amount of time. It was such a blissful happy month. Highlight of the month was definitely celebrating Austyn‘s husband’s birthday in Las Vegas! Austyn and I have been besties for north of 15 years now, and living on opposite sides of the country we rarely get to see each other. It was so nice to be in the same room. And day drinking. Because VEGAS! I cannot wait for the excitement of July! On-boarding more contributors for Imaginary Book…

Hercule Poirot is one of my favorite characters. I wasn’t sure what to make of him the first time I read about him. Poirot is a man of extreme intellect; he is full of confidence without any modesty. His mustache knows no equal (he will be the first to tell you that), he is emphatically Belgian not French, and he always uses the “little grey cells” in his brain to solve even the most complex of crimes. He is one of Agatha Christie’s most well-known and beloved detectives (even if Christie didn’t always love him), and he is said…

The Lambda Literary Award winners were announced on June 7th, celebrating excellence in LGBT fiction and non-fiction. All of the nominees were pretty incredible, but a special congratulations to those who won in their categories! After this month, packed full of the highest highs and lowest lows, I feel like it’s even more apparent that reading diverse books can be a gateway to acceptance, tolerance, and love. I scoured the many many winners across the categories and put together this list of goodies which will be making it into my TBR pile! 1. The Life and Death of Sophie Stark,…

Hello Imaginary friends, We hit a bit of a landmark, and I didn’t even realize it!! Back when we hit our 50th post, I did a little update on my reading goals for the year, mentioning that I was way ahead on my goal of reading 30 books before my 30th birthday. Well, it’s been a little over 3 months since then, we’ve officially hit our 100th post, and I can report that I’ve officially passed 30 books! Yay! So, since I bypassed an opportunity to give you a reading progress recap, here’s a quick recap of everything I’ve read…

Back in March, Whitney put together a fun post on who would be in her Imaginary Book Club. While it’s fun to speculate about all our fantasy book club members, we always want to give you the chance to know a bit more about the folks who make up the Imaginary Book Club community. Each month we’ll be profiling one of our writers or contributors with a fun Q&A post. Feel free to chat them up in the comments. We love that. Now let’s get into it! Becca’s in your Imaginary Book Club! Where were you born and where do you…

We have to break in to our regular schedule to be super excited about being nominated for the Liebster Award by A Writer Named Charley! The Liebster Award is a blogger award, designed to help connect and support the blogging community. A great idea in promoting your own blog and others. Originally it was given out to blogs with less than 2000 readers but this has slowly lowered as the award has gained popularity. It is now only 200 readers or less. These are the Liebster award rules: Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you. Display the award on your…
